Innovative Teaching Grant produces Book, “Kind Elementary”
The Rockwall ISD Education Foundation, Inc. sponsored an Innovative Teaching
Grant that has produced a published book, Kind Elementary. Amy
Parks-Heath Elementary School counselor, Christi Crump submitted the application
entitled, “Why Don’t We Make It a Habit to Show Our Kindness and Compassion
Every Day?” The grant enhanced the district-wide initiative, Rachel’s Challenge,
by targeting all students in kindergarten through sixth grade in Rockwall ISD. A
portion of the grant proceeds were used to produce the student written book,
Kind Elementary , which promotes kindness and compassion. The book
was illustrated by Brianne Pickering and then published. Ms. Crump has presented
Nancy Boyd, RISD Director of Guidance and Counseling and each school counselor
with a copy of Kind Elementary.
